Bill Shapiro

Bill will help Founders targeting AI products for the Operating Room. He spent over 25 years providing direct patient care in the OR as an anesthesiologist at the University of California, San Francisco. Bill initially provided direct anesthesia care to pediatric and adult cardiac surgery patients. Later, while Chief of Anesthesia Services at UCSF Mount Zion Hospital, new operating rooms were constructed, surgery capacity was increased and a post-operative Intensive Care Unit was added. He is well versed with the operating room electronic health record system, implemented first at UCSF in the Mount Zion operating rooms. Bill has over 20 peer-reviewed publications in anesthesia and heart disease, the majority involving pacemakers and related devices for management of heart rhythm irregularities.

Bill holds a BS in Mathematics from The University of Maryland in College Park, an MD from the University of Maryland Medical School in Baltimore, and an Executive MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University, Atlanta. Bill is a member of The Band of Angels, investing in, and advising startups and early stage companies.
